Solid state

A solid state triac with a large heatsink can switch up to 15 A and is built to last millions of hours. No moving parts, no clicking noises.

Precision thermistor

For the highest accuracy, we include a precision thermistor (accurate to 0.5° C) and Sugru silicone putty for waterproofing.

Arduino-based code

Easily program the controller with an FTDI cable. This means you can have the temperature follow any profile, and it can interface with the computer via USB for data logging and dynamic control.

What to hack

For sous vide cooking, we recommend hacking the Professional Series 30 Cup Coffee Urn. It has all stainless steel construction and is easy to disassemble/reassemble (you only need Phillips head screwdrivers).  You never need to break the seal on the heater to open it up.
